Ben Lamorte is Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Alight Planning, a leading budgeting and forecasting software solution, focused on making planning a “value-add” activity and moving organizations across the planning maturity curve. Ben draws on over 15 years of experience in management consulting and financial modeling.
Ben’s experience is varied and deep. He began his career helping hospitals improve performance as a management consultant with APM/CSC Healthcare. In 1999, he went on to head up the Business Intelligence group at PlanetRx.com and as Cognos administrator, he maintained OLAP cubes and created management reports. After the dotcom fallout in 2001, he founded Decision Consulting where he built planning models in Excel for MedVantx, Affymetrix, and Adobe Systems.
After joining Alight in 2006, Ben has helped dozens of companies move planning beyond spreadsheets and has co-presented with Alight customers including Kaiser Permanente and Texas Blood and Tissue Center. As head of Marketing, Ben collaborates with the Alight team to develop leading edge approaches to planning. He contributed to Rand Heer’s research paper
entitled: “The Planning Maturity Curve: Where are you? Where do you want to be?” The Planning Maturity Curve defines a framework for measuring the business value of planning activities including budgeting, reporting, forecasting, and agile planning.
Ben takes an academic discipline to his work in financial planning and analysis. He published a mathematics research paper in the Electronic Journal of Combinatorics and is a frequent speaker at budgeting and forecasting conferences.
Ben holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering-Economic Systems, Operations Research, and Industrial Engineering from Stanford University. He resides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
